The Cinnamon Leaf That Brings Happiness
Mr. Smart picked up a cinnamon leaf that fell from the moon. Legend has it that the cinnamon leaf can bring happiness to people, so Mr. Smart carefully put the leaf into a candie bowl. The next morning, when he found out that were more candies than yesterday night, he immeditely recognized that he had already held the key to happiness.
He made a lot of money using the cinnamon leaf, until one day he realized that he couldn't afford the delicious and expensive blue diamond salt. And he wanted more, so he put the leaf beside the salt that he bought with all his fortune. However, the blue diamond salt made the leaf dry and losed its magic power.
This story is adapted from a folk tale. Mr.Smart is like a mirror, and what happens to Mr.Smart is a warning to everyone.
Ao Zi, born in 1971. She is a painter, specializing in oil paintings and children's picture book illustrations. She graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1994 and was a visiting scholar at the University of the Arts London in 2010. She is currently an associate professor at the School of Design and Art, Hunan University. In 2018, she won the 2018 Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award.
