Flying Stars

Snow and Summer

Snow and Summer, two seasonal elves, were childhood friends. As they grew older, their respective roles created a rift, and they drifted apart. Time passed, and Snow, nearing retirement, still remembered Summer. He decided to journey halfway around the world to find Summer, sharing the final chapter of his life...

The author uses the changing seasons of nature to tell a story of friendship that both adults and children can empathize with, and tells of the precious feelings in the world, creating a poetic chemical reaction.

Fan Du, urrently living in Beijing, is a fairy tale and picture book creator, freelance illustrator, and independent comics artist. She has created illustrations for numerous literary journals and publishing houses. Snow and Summer is her first picture book, created in the summer of 2020. Perhaps she herself had no idea that this story of love and growth, of friendship and promises, would come from a short trip to the suburbs. "Because of the pandemic, the mountains were very quiet. I meditated quietly in the woods for a while, and when I opened my eyes again, the green seemed to have taken on a kind of life, swaying like an elf. Returning to the coffee shop at the foot of the mountain, I stroked the old cat while writing this short fairy tale."
